The Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) is the community relations and public affairs arm of UJA-JCC Greenwich. Its mission is to represent and advocate for the interests of the Jewish community before elected officials, government agencies, the media, and the broader community.
The JCRC advocates, educates, collaborates, and mobilizes the Jewish community to help ensure a strong and secure Jewish future. We build meaningful alliances within and beyond the Jewish community, raise awareness and mobilize action on key issues, promote understanding of Israel, combat antisemitism, and advance public policies consistent with Jewish values. On the frontlines of the fight against antisemitism, the JCRC works to confront hatred and discrimination, protect Jewish communities, and ensure that antisemitism is met with a strong, coordinated response.
The JCRC is nonpartisan and advocates on behalf of the Jewish community at the local, state, and federal levels. We work closely with elected officials, government agencies, law enforcement, and community leaders to advance policies that protect Jewish interests, strengthen communal security, combat antisemitism, and uphold civil and religious rights. We also mobilize community members to engage in civic affairs and advocate for shared priorities.
UJA-JCC Greenwich is a member of the Jewish Federations Association of Connecticut (JFACT), which represents Connecticut's seven Jewish Federations in state and federal advocacy. Through JFACT, we help advance shared legislative priorities, including increased funding for Jewish communal security and other issues of importance to Connecticut's Jewish communities.
The JCRC works with local schools, administrators, boards of education, and community stakeholders to ensure safe, inclusive, and welcoming learning environments for Jewish students. We address incidents of antisemitism, advocate for appropriate educational policies and responses, provide educational resources, and engage with school leadership to promote understanding of Jewish identity, history, and Israel. We also monitor school board proceedings and local and state education policies to safeguard Jewish students' rights and well-being.
The JCRC builds lasting relationships with faith-based and civic organizations to foster mutual understanding, strengthen community partnerships, and advance shared priorities. Through outreach, dialogue, and collaborative educational programs, we work alongside our neighbors to promote respect, cooperation, and our shared values.
UJA-JCC Greenwich and the JCRC stand firmly with Israel. We educate and engage our community on developments affecting Israel, promote a deeper insight into the Jewish State, and equip community members to advocate effectively and confidently on Israel's behalf.
