Dignity Grows
1 in 5 Women in Our Country Cannot Access or Afford Monthly Menstrual Supplies
Dignity Grows™ empowers women and girls by combating period poverty and hygiene inequality in a manner that honors their dignity, by providing free reusable totes filled with a month’s supply of comprehensive hygiene products and period necessities. Greenwich is the second inaugural chapter of this national non-profit with roots in the Jewish Federation of Hartford.
Every month, one in five women in our country faces the stark choice of paying for food and shelter or feminine hygiene products. This leads to feelings of helplessness and embarrassment! By providing a neighbor in need with menstrual hygiene essentials, you’re giving them the monthly resources to attend school, work and participate in community life without interruption.
Be a source of freedom, self-esteem and comfort for women and girls in the midst of product insecurity.
Here's how:
· Attend a packing party and join other caring community members in filling totes with needed supplies.
· Sponsor a Dignity Grows™ Tote. One Tote costs only $18!
· Volunteer to deliver filled Totes.
To date, the Greenwich chapter of Dignity Grows™ has distributed more than 2,400 Totes.
This program is made possible by a grant from Greenwich United Way, and generous donors.
