Whether you’re a golfer or just craving relaxation in gorgeous surroundings, Turnberry Resort Scotland takes the Cup. The sports-minded hotel boasts thoroughbred class, 800 lush acres and breath-stealing views of Isle of Arran, Alisa Craig and the Irish Sea.

“The setting is spectacular,” confirms Ellen Davis. “And the inside is beautiful too – it’s contemporary yet feels appropriate given the architecture.”
Having undergone a multi-million pound renovation, the five-star establishment has nip-tucked its public spaces and Deluxe Ocean View Rooms without sacrificing its Edwardian charm.

Ask Ellen about the view from her room, and you can practically see emerald fairways and sparkling water reflected in her eyes. “The [Deluxe] rooms have enormous floor-to-ceiling windows that look out to the golf course and beyond that the sea,” she enthuses.

Other options in the 149-room resort include Classic guest rooms, Suites and family-friendly Apartments set up for self-catering.
As if the iconic accommodations aren’t enough, “the golf course is justifiably famous,” says Ellen. Turnberry played host to four Open Championships, and offers world class golfing on the Ailsa, Kintyre and Arran courses. Want to work on your swing? Head over to the Colin Montgomerie Links Golf Academy.
Or treat your muscles to some pampering at the award-winning spa in The Outdoor Activity Centre.

All that lounging is bound to give you an appetite. Eateries on the premises have something for all ages, from classical French Escoffier dishes at 1906 restaurant to laid-back grub at Duel in the Sun sports bar to the Michelin-starred Grand Tea Lounge, where more than 30 teas are brewed by samovar.
